Shooting during ball game at Atlanta park leaves 2 dead and 4 wounded, including 6-year-old

Shooting during ball game at Atlanta park leaves 2 dead and 4 wounded, including 6-year-old

On Sunday, a shooting at a ballgame in Rosa L. Burney Park in Atlanta resulted in two fatalities and four injuries, including a critically injured six-year-old child, according to the Atlanta Police. The incident began during a baseball or softball game when an argument erupted and escalated to gunfire, resulting in six people being shot. One man and one woman died, while the remaining victims were hospitalized, with one in critical condition. Police released images of a person of interest, requesting the public's help in identifying the individual. The Atlanta Police Department clarified that the individual was a person of interest, not a suspect, and requested information to aid their ongoing investigation. Police are still determining the relationship between the victims and investigating the cause of the shooting. The police deputy chief appealed to the public to resolve conflicts without resorting to weapons, emphasizing that gun violence has no place in society. Georgia has had 18 mass shootings this year, and Atlanta has experienced a 9% increase in homicides and a 4% increase in aggravated assaults compared to the same time last year.

Woman fires gun at Dallas airport, taken to hospital after being shot by police

Dallas Love Field Airport was thrown into chaos on Monday when a 37-year-old woman opened fire with a handgun in the airport’s ticket counter area. According to Dallas Police Chief Edgardo Garcia, the woman walked into a bathroom, changed her clothing, and then fired her gun at the ceiling. The motive behind her actions is still being investigated. An officer shot her in her "lower extremities" to subdue her, and she was then arrested and taken to a hospital. Thankfully, nobody else was injured in the incident. Following the shooting, the airport was evacuated, and Dallas police began their investigation. Southwest Airlines flights into and out of Dallas Love Field were placed on hold. It was not until around 2 p.m. Central that normal security checkpoint operations resumed. The woman’s identity has not been released. This is not the first time that Dallas Love Field Airport has been the site of a shooting. In 2016, a man was injured after advancing toward an officer with large landscaping rocks.

Katie Porter Weapons shouldn't have Fewer Safety features than Cell Phones

In today's society, where technology is advancing at an exponential rate, it is concerning that firearms are still lacking essential safety features. As we all know, cell phones have a fingerprint scanner that allows for secure access to the device. However, firearms, which are deadly weapons, don't have such safety features.

It is time for firearm manufacturers to start implementing fingerprint scanners on all their guns. This technology could prevent up to 40% of accidental deaths caused by firearms. As a result, I asked firearm manufacturers why they are hesitant to install these safety features on their products.

It is crucial that we take every possible measure to prevent accidental deaths caused by firearms. The implementation of fingerprint scanners would not only provide an added layer of safety but also prevent unauthorized use of firearms, including stolen weapons.

We must put safety first and demand that firearm manufacturers prioritize safety features. It is our responsibility as citizens to ensure that firearms are used safely and responsibly. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and our communities to take action and prevent senseless tragedies caused by irresponsible gun use.

Oklahoma woman slips out of cuffs and shoots officer with his AR 15

An Oklahoma police officer was shot by a woman who had been detained in the back of his patrol car, after she freed herself from her handcuffs and took possession of the officer's semi-automatic rifle. The police officers had arrived at the residence of Rachel Clay for a welfare check, as per local news outlet KWTV-TV. Clay was behaving erratically and had to be detained in a police car. Video footage from inside the vehicle showed Clay alone in the backseat, attempting to free herself from the handcuffs. Eventually, she succeeded in freeing one of her hands, reached through the partition between the front and back seats, grabbed the officer's AR-15, and started shooting. Reports indicate that she fired 10 shots, injuring a civilian and a deputy. The Grady County Sheriff's Office confirmed that one officer was wounded with non-life-threatening injuries. Clay was arrested after a three-hour standoff in the car and charged with shooting with intent to kill. She is being held under a $1 million bond. According to ABC-7, Clay tested positive for methamphetamines, and court documents cited by KFor, an Oklahoma news site, revealed that she has a history of mental illness and is currently unmedicated. Grady County Undersheriff Gary Boggess called the incident a "freak deal," adding that the authorities are examining ways to prevent it from happening again.

Man who was at Capitol on Jan. 6 is fatally shot after firing into an FBI field office

Officials have identified the man who was shot and killed by officers after firing a nail gun into an FBI field office in Cincinnati on Thursday. Two officials who are familiar with the matter say the suspect was Ricky Walter Shiffer, and he had been present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Shiffer had reportedly posted about his desire to kill FBI agents following the search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. The motive for the attack is still under investigation, and it's unclear whether he fired the nail gun or who fired the fatal shot. No officers were injured. The FBI Director Christopher Wray condemned the violence against law enforcement and called for respect for the rule of law. Since the search of Trump's home, there has been a rise in threats against FBI personnel and facilities on social media platforms.

A man loses a Basketball Game to a Woman. Returns to Shoot her 5 times after he Loses.

According to Fox 4 News, a 21-year-old woman named Asia Womack from Dallas was allegedly shot by a friend who was upset after losing a basketball game, and she has passed away. The shooting occurred at a park near Womack’s home on Monday.

The shooter is said to have taken his kids and brother home after losing the pickup game against Womack. He then returned to the park and reportedly shot her five times.

“This is so senseless,” said Pastor John Delley to Fox 4 News. “You become embarrassed because a female beat you in basketball.”

Andrea Womack, Asia’s mother, revealed that her daughter had a close relationship with the shooter.

“This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man,” Andrea said. “She’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.”

Dallas police are examining footage from a store near the park but have not arrested anyone yet.

“If you know where he is, where his whereabouts are, please turn him in,” Andrea urged. “Help the family out. We’re hurting.”

Gunman sets fire to homes and opens fire on fleeing victims

According to authorities, a gunman ignited a series of fires in Houston homes during the early hours of Sunday morning and then proceeded to shoot at victims as they attempted to flee from the flames. The attack was carried out in ambush-style, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, before the perpetrator was killed by police.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 am on Dunlap Street in the southwest region of Houston, catching residents off-guard as they slept soundly in their homes. Houston Police have reported that the suspect, a Black male in his 40s who was allegedly evicted from the building, set fire to multiple residences to draw victims outside.

The assailant then hid in the darkness, dressed entirely in black attire and armed with a shotgun. As frightened residents escaped the burning buildings, the shooter took aim and opened fire on them.

Twin sisters shot waiter in the face over $3 hamburger

Twin sisters shot waiter in the face over $3 hamburger

Two twin sisters are facing charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide after a violent incident at a restaurant in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, in which they allegedly shot a server. The January 30 incident is one of the latest examples of violence targeting food service industry employees during the coronavirus pandemic when there have been reported labor shortages and supply chain interruptions. The sisters, identified as Breanta and Bryanna Johnson in a criminal complaint, were two of four women arrested by Wauwatosa police in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint, the sisters and two others were being "impatient and rude" while sitting in a corner booth inside the restaurant and started arguing with employees because their food wasn't being served quickly enough. When the employees asked them to leave, Breanta Johnson allegedly went outside and brought back a handgun. Bryanna Johnson is accused of trying to "pistol whip" the server while her sister fought with him, and was identified as the one who allegedly shot him in the face.

The violence against restaurant workers has been on the rise in recent years, with a survey released in December reporting more than 77,000 incidents of violence or threats of violence in nine of California's major cities between 2017 and 2020. This trend has continued in recent weeks, with incidents such as a shooting at a McDonald's restaurant in St. Louis and a Wendy's employee suffering a gunshot wound to the head in Phoenix during an argument over barbecue sauce. Additionally, a survey last summer found that 62% of restaurant workers reported experiencing emotional abuse and disrespect from customers.

Man who spent 33 years in prison back behind bars, now charged with attempted murder

Man who spent 33 years in prison back behind bars, now charged with attempted murder

On Friday night, a man was shot and hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries on A. Phillip Randolph Boulevard in Jacksonville. Edward Taylor was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder. The police obtained a description of the shooter from surveillance footage that captured the incident. The footage shows the suspect walking towards the victim, pointing a firearm at him, and shooting him in the chest. The suspect's vehicle had several bullet holes in it and was caught on camera driving away. The police later found Taylor removing items from the trunk of his car, which also had bullet holes in it, and arrested him. Taylor claimed that he heard a single gunshot and left the scene, but his car was hit by gunfire, and he pulled over to change his tire when the police apprehended him.

Taylor was granted parole and released from prison in 2019. The State Attorney's Office's Conviction Integrity Review received three separate referrals regarding Taylor's 1986 conviction for sexually assaulting a child. The review found that evidence had not been disclosed to Taylor's defense and that there were other errors in the case, leading to his exoneration in 2010. However, Taylor's unrelated arrest will be reviewed by the State, which will make a filing decision. Taylor is currently being held on a $1.1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.

Buffalo Mass Shooter Points a Gun at White Man, Realizes He's White, then says "Sorry"

Buffalo Mass Shooter Points a Gun at White Man, Realizes He's White, then says "Sorry"

A supermarket manager was left in shock when the "white supremacist" gunman, Payton Gendron, lowered his weapon and apologized instead of opening fire, after realizing that the manager was also white. Christopher Braden, a father of two, rushed to the front of the Tops Friendly grocery store in Buffalo when Gendron started shooting at black shoppers, killing ten of them. Braden was hit in the leg and attempted to hide between two registers, but Gendron approached him, took aim with his semi-automatic rifle, and prepared to fire. Braden's close friend and neighbor recounted the terrifying moment when Braden stared death in the face, and he is currently recovering in the hospital from his injuries.

Footage from Gendron's live-streaming camera captured Braden's piercing scream of "no" as he covered his face, preparing to die. However, to everyone's surprise, the gunman casually said "sorry" and backed away. The incident is being investigated as a federal hate crime, and the FBI is involved in the investigation.
