A man who went on a racist rant gave out his address and said come ‘see me.’

A video of a white man, Edward Cagney Mathews, shouting racist slurs at his Black neighbor in front of his house in New Jersey went viral last week. In the six-minute video, Mathews repeatedly refers to his neighbors as "monkeys" and the N-word while also shouting his address as a challenge to the person recording him. When a police officer arrived on the scene, Mathews called him "Whitey" and told him he had "no jurisdiction here." On Monday, up to 150 people protested outside Mathews' house chanting "We want Edward" and "Come outside!"

He was subsequently arrested and charged with fourth-degree bias intimidation and trespassing. Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina added assault charges based on video evidence. Mathews offered a weak apology, blaming his behavior on being drunk during the encounter. However, a woman who previously lived above Mathews shared a post on Facebook alleging past harassment and vandalism.
