Remembering donald trump: American paying for his Sex Scandals

Since the 1970s, at least 26 women have accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct, including assault. Many of these women publicly shared their stories after the October 2016 release of the "Access Hollywood" tape, in which Trump boasted about grabbing women's genitals in 2005. Some accusers had come forward before the tape's release, while others shared their stories after the fact.

Trump has dismissed the accusations, including claims of harassment, groping, and rape, as politically motivated and false accounts spread by the media and his political opponents. In 2016, he threatened to sue all of his accusers and claimed that he could not have engaged in the alleged behavior with certain women because he was not physically attracted to them.

Although two women have sued him, Trump has not followed through on his promise to sue the other accusers. The White House argues that his election proves that the allegations are not disqualifying. In December 2017, then-White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that the American people had answered the accusations by electing Trump. Nonetheless, according to a December 2017 Quinnipiac poll, 50% of voters — 59% of women and 41% of men — believe the president should resign due to the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Despite Trump's denials, many of his accusers see the #MeToo movement as an opportunity to hold him accountable. Samantha Holvey, who spoke out in 2016 about her experience with Trump as a Miss USA pageant contestant, stated in 2017 that she and others see the movement as a chance to "try round two." Jessica Leeds, who accused Trump of groping her on a plane in the late 1970s, reported that Trump called her a derogatory name years later at a gala in New York. Trump denied Leeds' allegations and suggested that he would not have assaulted someone who was not attractive to him.
